In regards to yielding to pedestrians, investigators may have reviewed a  few different laws that the driver violated. Investigators may review 42-4-802 Pedestrians’ right-of-way in crosswalks. This law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians in places where traffic lights are not in an area or operated. It is also required to slow down when approaching pedestrians.

Another code law investigators may reviewed is 42-4-710 Emerging from or entering an alley, driveway, or building. This law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians walking near or on a sidewalk when emerging from an alley, driveway, building or any other place when the priority is to drive on a sidewalk or a sidewalk area.

If impairment in alcohol played a factor in this collision, investigators may have reviewed 42-4-1301 Driving under the influence. Some of the violations that are committed in driving under the influence are alcohol, drugs, combination of both and one or more drugs. Under 42-4-710(b) driving while ability impaired with alcohol or drugs, or both is a class 4 felony.
