(Sacramento, CA) Six people, including two children, were hospitalized Thursday evening, November 20, following a Mather Boulevard crash involving multiple vehicles in east Sacramento.

According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, emergency crews responded around 5:20 p.m. to the area of Mather Boulevard and Arnold Way. Firefighters initially reported five people injured, but later confirmed a total of six victims. A total of four adults and two children sustained injuries.

Paramedics transported all six to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into what caused the crash. Traffic lanes were reopened around 6 p.m. after the scene was cleared.

Overview on the Mather Boulevard Crash

When a multi-vehicle collision results in several injuries, investigators review a combination of California traffic laws to determine how it occurred. The Right-of-Way Law requires drivers making turns or entering intersections to yield to approaching vehicles that pose a hazard. Failure to do so can often lead to chain-reaction crashes like this one.

The Basic Speed Law also applies, requiring motorists to travel at speeds that are reasonable and safe for roadway, weather, and traffic conditions. Even minor speed violations can increase the risk of multi-vehicle collisions.

If authorities suspect distracted driving, investigators may reference the Handheld Device Law, which prohibits using a phone or similar device while driving. Reviewing these laws helps determine the contributing factors in the Mather Boulevard crash.

    Support for the Families

If your loved one was injured in this crash, you should stay in contact with the California Highway Patrol to receive updates and request a copy of the collision report once it becomes available. This report will provide important details about the circumstances and who may be at fault.

You may also want to consult a personal injury attorney experienced in multi-vehicle collisions. Legal guidance can help you understand your rights, navigate insurance claims, and seek compensation. This would include medical expenses, lost wages, and recovery costs.

Finally, consider reaching out to community support resources in Sacramento, such as trauma recovery centers or counseling services, which can help you and your family cope with the stress and disruption caused by this serious crash.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
