(Las Vegas, Nevada) On September 10th, a 2016 Audi A3 vehicle driver,  Emilio Archila,23, struck a 61-year-old man on a wheelchair in Rancho Drive, South of Teddy Drive.

According to the LVMP, the Audi A3 vehicle was driving northbound on Rancho Drive on the right lane of two lanes when it drifted right and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian then moved forward and came to a rest on the roadway. The vehicle driver did not stop and fled the scene. Prior to the fatal pedestrian collision, the Audi driver was involved in a vehicle crash with a Toyota Tundra and also fled the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to UMC Trauma Center by medical personnel and is in life-threatening conditions

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and the driver, who’s now taken into custody. Archila is now accused for drinking and driving while striking the pedestrian leading him to be charged with a DUI, he was previously charged with a DUI three times.

Legal Analysis on Rancho Drive, South of Teddy Drive

Since Emilio had two hit-and-run events, he may face serious charges while taken into custody. Investigations may reviewed NRS 484E.010 to discuss what the Audi driver should be charged with. According to this law, if a person fails to stay at the scene of a collision that involves death or injury, is guilty of class B felony and can be punished with a fine of $2,000 to $5,000, imprisoned in a state prison of a minimum of 2 years with a maximum of 20 years.

Because the driver showed signs of impairment, investigators likely reviewed NRS 484C.110 which prohibits driving under the influence of intoxicated liquor, alcohol concentration of 0.08% or more in breath or blood, under the influence of intoxicated liquor and controlled substances to drive a vehicle on a highway or premise as well as any violations listed in this code.

    Advice to the Pedestrian’s Family
