(Dulzura, CA) A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning, January 7, in a State Route 94 crash involving a pickup truck in an unincorporated area of east San Diego County.
Cal Fire said the crash happened around 8:40 a.m. in front of San Diego County Fire Protection District Station 30. The California Highway Patrol reported that a 33-year-old man from Imperial Beach drove a Toyota Tacoma eastbound on SR-94 near Campbell Ranch Road.
At the same time, a 30-year-old man from Chula Vista rode a Yamaha motorcycle westbound on the highway. For reasons still under investigation, CHP said the Tacoma driver turned left toward a driveway. The motorcycle collided with the right side of the truck, ejecting the rider onto the roadway.
Medical personnel pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Paramedics transported the Tacoma driver to a hospital with minor injuries, CHP said. Authorities did not release the victim’s name. Details about speed, visibility, or the status of traffic control devices were not immediately available and were listed as unknown.
