(Norwalk, California) One driver rear viewed a vehicle leading to a multi-vehicle collision with one driver ejected out of their vehicle today on Rosecrans Avenue.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner, at around 12:52 a.m. two vehicles were traveling eastbound on Rosecrans avenue when suddenly a vehicle rear viewed one of the two vehicles. This led two of those vehicles to roll-over many times.
The collision increased the number of vehicles involving 11 parked vehicles and five moving vehicles near Rosecrans and Longworth Avenues. A driver died after getting ejected from their vehicle. According to authorities, a third vehicle right behind the two vehicles, struck multiple parked vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Deputy believed that the collision was caused by vehicles racing and was investigating in regards to this.
Analysis on Rosecrans and Longworth Avenues
Since one driver rear viewed another vehicle leading it to roll-over, investigators may want to review California Code, VEH 23103. One of the following violations that may match up with the driver’s action is (b). If one drives in an off street parking facility while disregarding the safety of others and or property, is guilty of reckless driving. In this case, the driver did violate other vehicles in a parked space that could be under an off street parking facility.
23103 (C) states one of the following violations that the driver may be faced with. Unless provided in Section 40008, a person convicted of the offense of reckless driving should be punished with imprisonment in a county jail for at least 5 days or 90 days. You can also be fined with at least $145 up to $1,000 or by both imprisonment and a fine.
If impairment in alcohol played a factor in the collision, investigators can look at California Code, VEH 23152 (a). This law states that it is unlawful to be under the influence of any alcoholic beverage to drive a vehicle. Another law that investigators may view is 23152 (b). This law specifically states that it is unlawful to drive with 0.08% percent of alcohol in blood or more, by weight. These factors may have contributed to the driver in rear viewing another vehicle.
