(Glendale, Arizona) One deceased and five injured in a vehicle crash on SR-101 near Cardinale Way on August 30th.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a gray sport utility vehicle rear ended another vehicle causing a chain reaction.  One of the vehicles fled the scene.

Because of the collision, one person was injured and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Five others were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The deceased individual is  28-year-old Crystal Armenta Moreno. The Department of Public Safety stated that impairment appeared to have played a factor in the collision.

    Perspective on SR-101

Because impairment may have played a role in this chain-collision, investigators may view 28-1381 (1)(A). This law can help identify what the driver violated. Some of the following the law prohibits is driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, any drug, vapor releasing substance containing toxic substances.

If the driver had 0.08% or more of alcohol in their blood while driving then they have violated (2) of this code as it prohibits this under the state of Arizona. If the driver was driving a commercial vehicle and was under the influence, then they have violated (4) if their blood alcohol was at a 0.04% or more. Under this code it is required to drive a commercial vehicle with a commercial drivers license.

In trial, If the driver was driving a regular vehicle at 0.05 percent or less of alcohol concentration in blood, breath or bodily substance, then under (1)(1) the defendant may not have driven under the influence of intoxicated liquor. These laws can overall help investigators in regards to the one deceased and five injured.

    Advice for the Family
