(East Las Vegas, Nevada) On Tuesday, a pedestrian sustained critical injuries after a vehicle struck him in the east valley of East Mountridge. 

A truck with a landscape trailer attached was parked to the curb. A 62-year-old man was simply taking out equipment out of the vehicles when a Ford Transit van struck the truck him. 

Another individual sustained minor injuries while grabbing equipment inside the trailer. The van driver stayed on scene and did not show any signs of impairment. The van driver also cooperated with investigators.

The investigation of this collision is ongoing.  

Analysis on East Valley

Investigators may take a look at NRS 484B-207 to understand what the Ford vehicle may have violated. This code discusses that if a driver overtakes another vehicle going on its right, they must pass to the left side of the highway. 

In this collision, the ford vehicle was driving on the right side when it struck the 62-year-old on its left. Although the truck wasn’t moving, this shows that the driver did not follow this law due to overtaking the truck vehicle. 

If the driver had any vehicle issues, investigators may review NRS 484D.230. This law prohibits vehicles that are in unsafe conditions on a highway. (1) A person should not drive, move, stop or park a vehicle if (a) it is in an unsafe condition that can endanger anyone or any property. This an important law investigators may want to view in comparison to the driver that struck the pedestrian who sustained critical injuries.
