(San Fernando Valley, California) On September 13th, at around 5 a.m., two suspected hit-and-run drivers killed a pedestrian when they fatally struck the individual and left the scene. They are now wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to LAPD, both vehicles were traveling south on Sepulveda, south of Parthenia street then struck a man in his 40s, while walking outside of a crosswalk in Sepulveda Westbound. When Los Angeles Paramedics Police arrived at the scene, the pedestrian was pronounced dead.

Police say that the Valley Traffic Division detectives are urging people who have any information about the collision to come forward and contact them. Police also released a statement saying

“If you were driving on Sepulveda Boulevard near Parthenia Street on Sunday morning around 5:00 a.m., or witnessed the collision, please contact Valley Traffic Division detectives with any information you may have.”

There is an award of $25,000 dollars for anyone that has information that can identify the suspects, arrest, and convictions.

    Investigations are currently ongoing

Legal Perspective of the San Fernando Valley Hit-and-Run

In the state of California, it is unlawful to hit-and-run, especially when causing an injury of another person or death. Because this collision involves two hit-and-run suspects, investigators may review California Vehicle Code 20001 (a), which prohibits drivers from leaving the scene after getting involved in a vehicle crash that caused injuries or fatal deaths and fulfill the requirements of California Vehicle Code 20003 and 20004.

Some of the following requirements listed in California Vehicle Code 20003 is, if someone is involved in an accident that resulted in an injury or death, the drivers must give their names, address, to a traffic or police officer. Furthermore they should accommodate the injured individual like arranging transportation, or taking the individual to a hospital. In regard to California Vehicle Code 20004, if there is no traffic or police officers at the scene, drivers must report the accident to the nearest Department of the California Highway Patrol or office of a duly authorized police authority and submit the report as required in California Vehicle Code 20003.

If the driver violates California Vehicle 20001, they can be imprisoned in state prison or county jail for at least a year or a fine of $1,000 to $10,000.

If the driver caused a serious injury or death, they may be imprisoned in a state prison from 2 to 4 years or in a county jail for at least 90 days or a year with a fine from $1,000 to $10,000.

    Advice to the Family

If the pedestrian was a loved one of yours, do not hesitate to seek comfort through families and friends while dealing with an unexpected tragedy. Once the suspects are located, and you are planning to file a lawsuit, getting into contact with a legal expert in pedestrian accidents is greatly suggested.
