(Northwest Las Vegas, Nevada) On September 11th, 11:29 p.m. a wrong-way fiery crash that killed two people, occurred on U.S Highway 99, at mile marker 99.

The Nevada Highway Patrol confirmed that an SUV and a sedan were involved in the collision. Before the collision, the sedan was going southbound on the northbound lanes. Both of the drivers died while the sedan passenger was taken to a hospital in critical conditions.

Northbound 1-11 lanes were temporarily shut down at I-11 at Kyle Canyon Road.

Legal Analysis on the U.S Highway 99 Collision

Because this is a wrong-way fiery crash, investigators may review NRS 484b.200 as it requires drivers to be on the right half of a highway, except when overtaking and passing another vehicle, when the right half of the highway is closed to traffic. Anyone who violates the requirements listed in this code could face punishments.

If the sedan driver was driving the wrong-way due to driving under the influence, investigators may review 484B.150 (1) as it prohibits that. The reason this may be the case in this collision is because oftentimes fatal collisions usually occur when alcohol is involved. For example, last week on a Saturday, a suspected drunk driver hit a police officer’s vehicle. Luckily no one was hurt but North Las Vegas police officers issued a warning to the public in regards to the danger of driving under the influence.  These code can help investigators identify what the sedan vehicle should be charged in regard to the wrong-way fiery crash

    Advice to Family

If you are a loved one of the drivers, it is important to find comfort and receive emotional help through counseling or therapy. This kind of collision can be hard for one to deal with, especially if it came unexpectedly. You can contact Nevada Highway Patrol for any information you may have, or request additional documents.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
