(San Diego, CA) A 38-year-old woman was killed early Wednesday morning, November 19, in a Mission Gorge Road accident after being struck by two vehicles in quick succession, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. in the 7500 block of Mission Gorge Road, near Princess View Drive. Investigators said the woman crossed the road mid-block when a 2021 Honda CR-V struck her. Moments later, a 2022 Tesla Model Y ran over the victim as she lay in the roadway.

Police said when officers arrived, they pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Both drivers stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

Overview on the Mission Gorge Road Accident

In pedestrian fatality cases, investigators review several key traffic safety laws to determine contributing factors. The Pedestrian Roadway Law prohibits pedestrians from crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk between adjacent intersections, requiring them to yield to vehicles.

However, the Duty to Exercise Due Care Law requires drivers to operate their vehicles with caution and use every reasonable means to avoid striking pedestrians, even when the pedestrian is crossing illegally.

Finally, the Basic Speed Law mandates that motorists drive at a speed that is safe for current conditions. These laws help investigators determine how the Mission Gorge Road accident occurred and whether it could have been prevented.

    Support for the Family

Family members of the victim should stay in contact with the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division. They can provide updates and give a copy of the official collision report once available. This document will provide crucial details about the investigation and assist with any insurance or legal matters.

You may also consider consulting a wrongful-death attorney who specializes in pedestrian accidents. Legal guidance can help you understand potential claims for funeral expenses, emotional distress, and other losses related to the crash.

Finally, lean on local support services and counseling resources. The San Diego Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) and local grief support centers can provide emotional care and practical guidance as your family navigates this tragic loss.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
