    Maria Rubalcava de Ruesga Died in Shelton Street Collision in Santa Ana

    Maria Rubalcava de Ruesga was killed after a trash truck struck her in a Shelton Street collision in Santa Ana.

    (Santa Ana, CA) A Shelton Street collision with a trash truck resulted in the death of Maria Rubalcava de Ruesga, 69, of Santa Ana.

    According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the crash occurred around 7:56 a.m. near Shelton Street and Bishop Street. Investigators said a trash truck headed east on Bishop Street. As the truck made a right turn onto South Shelton Street, it struck Ruesga as she crossed the street.

    Paramedics with the Orange County Fire Authority responded and pronounced Ruesga dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the trash truck remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash, according to investigators.
