(Calimesa, CA) Two boys suffered serious injuries, needing to be hospitalized in a Calimesa Boulevard hit and run in Calimesa.

On Thursday, August 7, at about 3:30 p.m., the Calimesa Boulevard hit and run occurred. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies dispatched to the incident at the 1100 block of Calimesa Boulevard.

When deputies arrived, they found two boys that sustained serious injuries. Paramedics soon came and transported the two boys to a hospital, where medical staff listed them as stable. Initial investigation revealed a suspect vehicle, with two people inside, fled the  hit and run scene after the crash. Despite assistance from the sheriff’s aviation and K9 units, authorities could not locate the suspects. At a later point, officers found the suspected driver. Investigators later identified him as 47-year-old Jaime Jose Aviles Munoz of Yucaipa.

Officers arrested Munoz in the 34000 block of Avenue E in Yucaipa at about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday. Reportedly, Munoz was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of a felony hit and run. He is being held on a $35,000 bail. The passenger was also identified and interviewed by deputies, but was released.

As of Sunday morning, the hospital released one of the boys injured from the Calimesa Boulevard hit and run. The other boy remained in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
