(Oceanside, CA) A pedestrian was killed late Sunday night, March 1, in a State Route 76 accident.
According to the Oceanside Police Department, the fatal collision was reported at approximately 11:50 p.m. near the intersection of state Route 76 and Benet Road. Investigators said a white Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on SR-76 struck a pedestrian who was believed to be crossing the highway from south to north just east of the intersection.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the victim’s name, age, or city of residence. That information remained pending notification of next of kin.
Police said the driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement. Officials stated that driving under the influence was not considered a factor in the crash.
