(Blythe, CA) Nine people were injured Monday afternoon, November 24, in a 14th Avenue accident involving three vehicles in an unincorporated area near Blythe.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the crash occurred around 2:48 p.m. at 14th Avenue and Neighbours Boulevard. Emergency responders arrived to find multiple victims trapped. They requested three medical helicopters and five ambulances to assist at the scene.

Officials said one person had to be extricated from the wreckage before being flown to a nearby trauma center. Paramedics transported the other victims to local hospitals with minor to moderate injuries.

The California Highway Patrol temporarily closed State Route 78 in both directions at 14th Avenue. Officers investigated the cause of the collision during this closure. The roadway remained shut down for several hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Overview on the 14th Avenue Accident

When a crash involves multiple vehicles and several injured victims, investigators examine a range of traffic safety statutes to determine liability and contributing factors. The Right-of-Way Law governs how vehicles must yield at intersections and cross streets, a key consideration for determining which driver may have failed to obey proper yielding procedures.

The Reckless Driving Law prohibits operating a vehicle with disregard for the safety of others. If excessive speed, unsafe passing, or distraction played a role in this collision, charges under this statute could apply.

Additionally, the Basic Speed Law requires drivers to travel at speeds reasonable for road and traffic conditions. On rural roadways like 14th Avenue, limited visibility or high-speed travel can significantly increase the risk of severe injuries during multi-vehicle crashes.

    Support for the Injured

Those hurt in the 14th Avenue accident should stay in contact with the California Highway Patrol Blythe Area Office to request a copy of the official collision report once it is available. This document will provide important details for insurance and potential legal claims.

Victims and their families may wish to consult a personal injury attorney who can explain their rights and help pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and long-term recovery costs.

Finally, individuals impacted by the crash should seek both physical and emotional care. The Riverside County Fire Department and local hospitals can provide referrals for trauma recovery programs and counseling services to help those affected begin healing after this serious collision.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
