Redding, CA (October 26, 2023) One person was killed in a head-on collision on State Route 299 on Wednesday, October 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash happened near Lewis Lane in the Bella Vista area, northeast of Redding.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to the call shortly after 2:00 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a dark gray Hyundai sedan and a white Jeep SUV, both damaged from the collision. Authorities reported that the airbags in both vehicles deployed and the cars were blocking the eastbound lanes of traffic on State Route 299.

When paramedics arrived, they found at least one person who was unresponsive and pronounced them dead at the scene. It is unknown if anyone else was injured in this tragic collision.
