(Vancouver, Washington) At about 9:45 p.m. in October 5th, Vancouver police responded to a Anderson vehicle crash that occurred on NE Anderson Road.

County Clark Today divulged more information where the Jeep traveling southbound on NE Anderson Rd, ran a red light on an intersection. Shortly after, the vehicle struck a Toyota RAV4 traveling westbound on NE Van Mall on a green light. The Jeep then flipped over and struck two pedestrians. One 34-years-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and another 43-years-old male pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical conditions but has died.

The driver of the jeep vehicle was identified as Noah Merchant, 26, who was arrested for vehicular homicide, DUI and reckless driving. A 20-year-old female passenger was also arrested and accused of underage possession of Alcohol.

The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Department is currently leading the investigation.

Legal Analysis on the Anderson Road Crash

When a vehicle collision involves a DUI, reckless driving, and vehicular homicide, investigators may review specific law codes that relate to the arrest of Noah Merchant.

Because the driver struck two pedestrians, he may be charged with vehicular homicide for injuring a pedestrian under R.C.W 46.61.520.Based on this law when one injures another person, that is under vehicular homicide.

Since the Jeep flipped over after striking another vehicle and pedestrian, this may have given investigators a reason to review R.C.W 46.61.500 .This law specifically states that any person who drives a vehicle in an unwanted or wanted disregard for the safety of a person or property is guilty of driving recklessly.

Before making final decisions, investigators likely reviewed R.C.W 46.61.502  to which it states the following violations that are considered a DUI such as driving under the influence of intoxicated liquor, cannabis or any drugs or driving. Its possible the driver did one of the following that lead to the Anderson Road Crash.
