    William Gallagher Killed After Long Beach Transit Bus Struck Him

    (Long Beach, California) On July 23rd, William Gallagher dies two days after Long Beach Transit bus Struck him. The incident occurred on 400 of Block Golden Shore at around 1:05 P.M. His Identification was made available today after his tragic passing.

    Long Beach Police Department confirmed that the Long Beach Transit bus struck Gallagher while crossing the street when making a left turn. Long Beach Fire Department Paramedics took Gallagher to the hospital but died on July 23rd. 

    Police believes that distraction and impairment was not the cause of the collision, neither was the speed of bus.

     

    Analysis on 400 of Block Golden Shore

    Investigators may have taken a look on the Speed Laws (22350). Based on this law, going a speed higher than reasonable or prudent in regards to weather, visibility, traffic on, surface and width of, highway, no speed that endangers others and property goes against the law.

    Another law they may have also reviewed Public Offenses Law (23152)(A). According to the law, it is unlawful for drivers to be under the influence of any alcohol beverages. (B) section of the law also states that 0.08 percent or more by weight, of alcohol in the blood system can not drive a vehicle.

    In this matter, the bus is a commercial vehicle which means Investigators may have also reviewed (D). This discusses alcohol percentages in the blood system. It states that drivers of a commercial motor vehicle can not have 0.04 percent or more, by weight, in blood. Investigators may have taken a look of this law to determine no impairment took place in the crash William Gallagher died from.

    (15210) (8) Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Program law states that commercial motor vehicle drivers such as the Long Beach Transit bus driver, is prohibited from using electronic wireless communication device to send, write or read text messages.
