(Ramona, CA) A 75-year-old man was seriously injured Tuesday morning, November 25, in a San Vicente Road collision after the golf cart he drove collided head-on with a pickup truck.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:05 a.m. The man drove a 2006 Club Car golf cart westbound in the eastbound lane of San Vicente Road. At the same time, a Toyota Tundra driven by a 30-year-old El Cajon man traveled east on the same stretch of road.

For reasons still under investigation, the golf cart and the Toyota collided head-on, CHP officials said. The impact threw the golf cart driver from the vehicle, causing major injuries.

Paramedics transported the Ramona man to Palomar Hospital for treatment. The Toyota driver was not injured. Authorities said drugs and alcohol did not play a role leading to the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact CHP Officer Jasmine Lopez at 619-219-6900.

Overview on the San Vicente Road Collision

Collisions involving low-speed vehicles such as golf carts are subject to several state safety laws. The Improper Lane Usage Law requires all vehicles, including golf carts operating on public roads, to travel on the right-hand side of the roadway unless making a lawful turn or passing safely. Driving against the flow of traffic greatly increases the risk of a head-on collision.

The Seat Belt and Occupant Protection Law also applies to golf carts when operated on public roads. Failure to wear a seat belt or secure occupants properly can lead to severe or fatal injuries in even low-speed crashes.

Finally, investigators will review the Basic Speed Law to determine whether speed or unsafe road use contributed to the crash. These statutes help identify what led to the San Vicente Road collision and how future incidents can be prevented.

Support for the Victim and Family

The victim’s family should stay in contact with the California Highway Patrol Ramona Office to request the official collision report once it becomes available. This report will include detailed findings from the investigation, which may assist with insurance claims or potential legal actions.

It may also be helpful to consult a personal injury attorney familiar with roadway collisions involving nontraditional vehicles. Legal guidance can help clarify recovery options for medical costs and rehabilitation.

Lastly, friends and family are encouraged to seek community and emotional support. Local organizations in San Diego County, including senior outreach and recovery programs, can provide valuable resources to assist with healing after this serious crash.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
