(Los Angeles, CA) A San Diego Freeway accident resulted in the death of Kinna Robin, 44, shutting down several lanes in Westchester.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at about 11:16 p.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway just south of La Tijera Boulevard. Investigators said a white Kia Soul hit Robin, who walked on or near the roadway. First responders determined she suffered multiple injuries, pronouncing her dead at the scene.

Authorities issued a SigAlert at 11:39 p.m., closing southbound lanes. They had to divert traffic to the La Cienega and Manchester Boulevard off-ramp while investigators worked at the scene. CHP officers lifted the SigAlert at around 2:30 a.m. the following dead.

Overview on the San Diego Freeway Accident

In fatal pedestrian freeway incidents like this, investigators often review the Pedestrian Roadway Law. This law restricts pedestrians from walking on a freeway or in areas not designated for pedestrian traffic, as such environments present extreme danger due to vehicle speeds and limited visibility.

However, the Basic Speed Law also applies to all motorists. Even when a pedestrian is unlawfully on a freeway, drivers are still expected to travel at a speed that is safe for conditions and maintain awareness of their surroundings.

If questions arise about roadway lighting or visibility, officials may also examine the Duty to Exercise Due Care Law, which requires drivers to exercise caution to avoid striking pedestrians whenever reasonably possible. These statutes will guide the CHP’s ongoing investigation into the San Diego Freeway accident.

    Support for Robin’s Family

If you are related to Kinna Robin, you should stay in contact with the California Highway Patrol’s West Los Angeles Office to receive updates and obtain the official collision report once it becomes available. This report can help clarify how the incident occurred and what evidence has been collected.

It may also help to reach out to a wrongful-death attorney familiar with freeway pedestrian cases. They can explain your family’s rights and guide you through both insurance and investigative processes.

Lastly, take time to lean on friends, family, and community support services. Grief counseling and local support networks can help you begin healing after such a sudden and heartbreaking loss.
