(Phoenix, AZ) A serious early morning crash on Monday, November 17, connected to a freeway hit-and-run left multiple people hospitalized in a 75th Avenue hit-and-run on Monday in west Phoenix.

According to the Phoenix Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, first responders received calls just after 4:00 a.m. to the area of 75th Avenue and Van Buren Street. When they arrived, they found a red SUV that had crashed into two semi-trucks and caught fire.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and pulled at least two people from the wreckage. First responders transported both victims to a hospital for treatment, though their conditions have not yet been released.

Investigators say the SUV had been involved in a hit-and-run on Interstate 10 moments before the fiery crash at 75th Avenue. DPS confirmed that the connection between the two incidents. They determined the SUV struck another vehicle on the freeway before exiting and colliding with the semis.

The intersection remains closed for an extended investigation as authorities work to determine what led to the chain of events.

Overview on the 75th Avenue Hit-and-Run

When a driver flees after a collision, investigators reference the Hit-and-Run Statute. This law requires drivers involved in a crash causing injury, death, or property damage to stop, provide their information, and render aid. Leaving the scene of a serious or fatal crash is a felony offense in Arizona.

Because the crash reportedly began with a freeway hit-and-run and ended in a second collision, the Reckless Driving Law may also apply. It prohibits operating a vehicle in a manner that shows a reckless disregard for the safety of others.

If impairment was suspected, the Driving Under the Influence Law would be relevant as well. Investigators will determine whether alcohol, drugs, or excessive speed contributed to the 75th Avenue hit-and-run.

Support for the Victims and Families

If you or someone you know was affected by this crash, you should stay in contact with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Phoenix Police Department. They can provide updates on the investigation and give you the official crash report once it is available.

Victims of serious collisions can also reach out to a personal injury or victims’ rights attorney. They can help understand legal options, including compensation for medical bills, property loss, or emotional trauma.

In times of crisis, it’s equally important to seek emotional support. Friends, family, and local counseling resources in Phoenix can provide care and stability as the community awaits answers from the ongoing investigation.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
