(Los Angeles, CA) On Monday, June 30, at about 7:10 p.m., the Century Boulevard hit-and-run in the Vermont Vista area left Shawn Graham, 52, fatally injured as officials worked to secure the scene and determine what led to the collision.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash occurred on Century Boulevard, north of Wall Street. A 1998–2002 Toyota Corolla traveling westbound on Century struck Graham, who was walking westbound in the roadway. The driver did not stop and struck him, last seen heading north on Wall Street. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported Graham to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police haven’t released any details on the suspect vehicle. The City of Los Angeles is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the driver. Officials urged anyone with information to contact LAPD’s South Traffic Division or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.

Investigators continue reviewing surveillance footage, including video released to the public, to identify the suspect vehicle and driver.

We extend our condolences to the victim’s family as the investigation continues.

Overview of the Century Boulevard Hit-and-Run

Fatal pedestrian collisions involving fleeing drivers are among the most serious offenses under California law. The Los Angeles Police Department continues its investigation into the death of Shawn Graham while urging community members to come forward with any information that may assist in locating the suspect.

Under Vehicle Code 20001, any driver involved in an injury or fatal crash must stop, render aid, and report the incident to law enforcement. Leaving the scene is a felony punishable by imprisonment and substantial fines. Vehicle Code 21954 outlines pedestrian responsibilities when crossing outside a crosswalk but also requires drivers to exercise due care to prevent collisions. Additionally, Vehicle Code 22350, the basic speed law, prohibits driving faster than is safe for current conditions.

These statutes guide investigators in assessing responsibility and potential charges in the Century Boulevard hit-and-run as they seek justice for Shawn Graham and his family.

    Guidance for Graham’s Family

If you are a relative of Shawn Graham, you can contact the LAPD’s South Traffic Division for updates and information about the ongoing case. Keeping a record of communications and reports will help you stay informed throughout the investigation.
