Sacramento, CA (July 35, 2024) Along Highway 50, not too far from Interstate 80 in Sacramento, several cars collided. It happened on Wednesday morning, July 24th, and left one person with injuries trapped inside their semi-truck. The collision involved five vehicles, two of which were semi-trucks, around 12:30 p.m. Reports indicated that one passenger in a vehicle was a juvenile and others were found to be injured, as well.

A silver Subaru Forester, two other  unidentified vehicles and two semi-trucks were all driving along Highway 50 in Sacramento when they suddenly collided. The reason for this collision is still a mystery. The collision ended up blocking all but the no. 1 lane of the highway, reports indicated. One of the semis had sustained so much damage that the passenger had become trapped inside the wreckage, officers reported. Fluid from the vehicles had leaked all over the roadway and one of the vehicles suddenly caught on fire.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and quickly requested help from the Sacramento Fire Department. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and officers began searching for those in need of assistance. Officers found the semi-truck passenger trapped inside his vehicle. Firefighters helped to free the victim and paramedics began loading those with injuries into ambulances. The injured were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for undisclosed injuries.

Officers requested tow trucks to come and remove the damaged vehicles from the highway. It took crews a while to clean up all of the fluid that had spilled onto the roadway during the collision. They also cleaned up the debris and glass that had been left behind, causing traffic issues. Eventually, Highway 50 was reopened to motorists. Detectives are working to determine what caused this accident as well as who was at fault, according to reports.
