Kern County, CA (June 14, 2024) What could only be described as a crazy accident occurred in the Delano area of Kern County on Friday morning, June 14th. It all started when a Walmart truck overturned on Highway 65 and crushed another vehicle, officers reported. The accident left one person seriously injured and flooded the highway with glass and debris. It all transpired at approximately 9:40 a.m., not too far from Snow Queen Avenue.
A silver sedan was traveling along Highway 65 on Friday morning at the same time as a Walmart tractor trailer truck. For reasons that are still unknown, the truck lost control and overturned on the highway. Before the driver of the sedan knew what was happening, the Walmart truck landed on the sedan, crushing it, officers reported. The impact sent debris and glass flying in all directions, covering the roadway.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the Walmart truck on its side on top of the sedan. Traffic was beginning to back up as drivers realized they couldn’t get around the accident and all of the debris. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found one person with serious injuries from the accident. CHP officers reported that they called for a medical helicopter to come to the scene and airlift the victim to a local hospital to receive treatment for major injuries.
Detectives worked the scene to try and determine what caused this accident on Highway 65. They are also determined to learn who was at fault in this collision in Kern County. Tow trucks were called to remove the damaged vehicles from the scene and it took crews hours to remove all of the glass and debris from the highway before traffic could resume, reports indicated.
