(Northridge, CA) A man was killed early Thursday morning, February 5, after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in a West Roscoe Boulevard accident.

Los Angeles Police Department officers received calls just before 2 a.m. to the 14300 block of West Roscoe Boulevard, west of Balboa Boulevard. According to police, officers learned the driver traveled eastbound on Roscoe Boulevard when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel also responded and found the pedestrian with critical injuries. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the victim’s name, age, or city of residence. That information remained unavailable as investigators worked to notify next of kin.

Police said the driver involved did not stop to render aid and continued driving eastbound after the collision. Investigators did not release a description of the vehicle or suspect. Officials also did not provide details about lighting conditions or traffic signals.

The LAPD Valley Traffic Bureau assumed responsibility for the investigation. Officers stated that the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run remained under active review. Anyone with information about the collision was encouraged to contact LAPD as detectives continued searching for the driver involved.

Review on the West Roscoe Boulevard Accident

When a fatal hit-and-run collision occurs, investigators review traffic safety laws to understand what factors may have contributed, without assigning fault prematurely. These reviews often focus on driver conduct, pedestrian visibility, and roadway conditions during overnight hours.

Because the driver left the scene, authorities may examine the Hit-and-Run Statute. This law requires drivers involved in a collision resulting in injury or death to stop immediately and provide reasonable assistance. Failing to remain at the scene prevents emergency aid and delays investigative efforts.

If the pedestrian’s position becomes part of the review, investigators may also consider the Pedestrian Crossing Law. This law requires pedestrians outside marked crossings to yield to vehicles that pose an immediate hazard. Investigators may review visibility and timing as part of that evaluation.

Because the collision occurred overnight, investigators could further look at the Basic Speed Law. This law requires drivers to travel at speeds reasonable for traffic, lighting, and roadway conditions. Reduced visibility at night can limit reaction time, which investigators may assess as part of the West Roscoe Boulevard accident investigation.

How the Family Can Move Forward

If you are related to the man who died or are supporting his loved ones, staying in contact with investigators can help you receive updates and request official police and coroner reports when they become available.

You may also consider speaking with a qualified legal professional to better understand your options after a hit-and-run loss. Emotional support from family members, friends, or grief counseling resources can be especially important during a sudden and painful time.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
