(Los Angeles, California) A Trader Joe’s vehicle crash occurred when a 91-year-old Tesla driver strike’s multiple pedestrians, killing a 30-year old woman in Trader Joe’s security lot shared with Mendocino Farms and Sidecar Doughnuts.
According to ABC 7 News, the collision occurred before 1:30 p.m, Thursday, September 3rd at a shopping center in Fairfax District.
The 91-year-old Tesla driver drove into the security lot striking pedestrians, killing the 30-year-old woman. The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, four other victims were sent the hospital.
Drake Piscione, a witness of the crash, states that the driver couldn’t believe what had happened and was unaware that she killed a pedestrian. She said that she was pressing against the brake, but the vehicle still accelerated.
A 19-year-old is suffering with serious injuries, two woman in their 30s and 57-year old, have minor injuries. The 91-year-old was also taken to a hospital but without life-threatening injuries.
Los Ángeles Mayor, Karen Bass release a statement saying
“I am deeply saddened by the incident outside of the Trader Joe’s near the corner of Fairfax and Third, and my heart goes out to everyone impacted.”
“My Office has deployed Crisis Response Team members, and LAPD personnel remain onsite. I thank the brave first responders who were on the scene quickly to render aid.”
Arrests have not been made and the collision is under investigation.
