Stanislaus County, CA (August 22, 2024) Tragedy struck the community of Stanislaus County as word spread of a pedestrian’s death. It all happened on State Route 99, not far from Taylor Road, according to reports. It was just before midnight when the first vehicle struck the pedestrian, who did not survive.
Darkness covered Stanislaus County on the night of August 21st, just before midnight. A pedestrian walked onto State Route 99 and, for some reason that officers still haven’t figure out, the man sat down. As he sat in the middle of the highway, vehicles passed him, until one vehicle did not see him until it was too late. It hit the pedestrian and immediately pulled over to wait for authorities. Sadly, several vehicles were driving in the same lane and several of them also ran over the pedestrian.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene quickly and found the victim on the ground in the middle of State Route 99. They quickly made their way to the victim, fearing the worst. He was found with fatal injuries, according to officers, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators began taking statements from everyone involved and are working to determine what exactly transpired on that California highway. At this point, officers do not know if drugs or alcohol were factors in this deadly collision on State Route 99.
