(Pasadena, California) A pedestrian dies when a driver on the foothill of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena strikes him leading him to his fatal death.
California Highway Patrol confirmed that the pedestrian was stuck just west of Lake Avenue on the eastbound freeway. The driver that struck the pedestrian called California Highway Patrol and reported that she may have hit the driver. The pedestrian, Richard Owens, was attempting to cross the freeway before the collision took place at around 9:31 A.M. near Madre Street.
A second witness also saw the pedestrian attempt to cross the freeway and the saw the vehicle strike him.
According to California Highway Patrol, Owen was then found in the slow lane of the freeway. CHP also confirmed that the pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene.
Two white SUVs came to a stop on the ramp side of the freeway. Investigators don’t know the amount of cars that struck Owen at the moment. Investigators are currently investigating including a reason as to why the pedestrian chose to cross the freeway.
The California Highway Patrol’s Altadena Area Office is currently leading this investigation.
