Fresno, CA (July 29,2024) The community of Fresno was saddened to hear that a man was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday night. The accident took place on First Street, near Gettysburg Avenue. Officers are not sure what time the accident took place, but they do know it happened overnight.
Officers reported that a man was struck by a vehicle overnight on Sunday on First Street in Fresno. The suspect didn’t stop to call for help, but instead, fled the scene, reports indicated. The pedestrian was sent flying through the air and came to a stop in the middle of the roadway with life-threatening injuries.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the many lying in the roadway in the dark. They immediately began life-saving measures and called for an ambulance. The dark sky was filled with flashing emergency lights and sires wailed as paramedics made their way to the scene. They found officers on the ground near the victim, trying to save his life. Paramedics took over and quickly loaded the victim into an ambulance. They rushed the man to a nearby hospital where the staff did everything they could to save him. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officers reported that it was obvious that the man had been struck by a vehicle, but there was no vehicle around. Officers reported the collision as a hit-and-run and began investigating the scene. They are working as quickly and diligently as they can to better determine what actually happened that night in Fresno. They hope to find the vehicle responsible and, in doing so, bring the driver to justice for this tragic hit-and-run.
