(Palmdale, CA) A pedestrian was critically injured Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in an East Avenue S accident, according to local authorities.

Officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the crash occurred just after 7:35 a.m. on East Avenue S near the intersections with 50th and 52nd streets. Deputies arrived to find a pedestrian struck by a vehicle and required immediate medical care.

Paramedics transported the patient by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where they listed them in critical condition. Authorities did not release the person’s age, gender, or city of residence. Authorities did not provide information about the driver or the vehicle involved.

Overview on the East Avenue S Accident

When a pedestrian sustains serious injuries on a busy roadway, investigators review traffic safety laws to understand what factors may have contributed, without assigning fault prematurely. These reviews help clarify driver actions, pedestrian movement, and roadway conditions.

Because a pedestrian was struck, investigators may examine the Duty of Care to Pedestrians Law. This law requires drivers to exercise due care to avoid colliding with pedestrians, even when a person is crossing outside a marked crosswalk. Morning commute hours can increase risk due to traffic volume and changing light conditions.

If speed is suspected as a contributing factor, authorities may also review the Basic Speed Law. This law requires motorists to travel at speeds that are reasonable for traffic, visibility, and roadway conditions. Driving too fast for conditions can significantly reduce reaction time and increase injury severity.

Investigators may additionally consider the Unsafe Turning Law when evaluating how the vehicle approached or moved through the area. This law requires drivers turn only when safe to do so. These statutes help officials evaluate what may have led to the East Avenue S accident as the investigation continues.

    Guidance for the Family

If you or a loved one was injured in a pedestrian crash, staying in contact with investigators can help. They can provide updates and the official collision report when it becomes available.

You may also want to speak with a legal professional experienced in serious pedestrian injury cases to better understand your options. Focusing on medical care and emotional support is important, and leaning on family, friends, or community resources can help during a difficult and uncertain time.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
