Chico, CA (December 11, 2023) 71-year-old Stephen Wilson was stuck and killed on East Avenue in Chico, just after midnight, according to officials. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the accident, the Chico Police Department reported.

It happened on Sunday, December 10th, in the 1500 block of East Avenue in Chico. It is still unclear if Wilson was crossing the street or exactly why he was in the street at the time of the accident. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found Wilson lying on the ground, unresponsive. Paramedics rushed to give life-saving aid to the pedestrian, but, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner was called who later identified Wilson.
Officers investigated the scene and looked for evidence that could help them determine what happened and what kind of vehicle hit Stephen Wilson. The investigation is ongoing and for the sake of the family, officers hope to solve this case and bring justice to this fatal accident.
