Oceanside, CA (April 18, 2024) – Armando Gutierrez, 21, of Escondido, was killed in a pedestrian crash on Sunday evening, April 14th, 2024, in Oceanside, while two other pedestrians were hospitalized with injuries.
The incident occurred around 7:38 p.m. on Oceanside Boulevard near Collee Boulevard. Preliminary investigation revealed that Gutierrez was walking with friends in the 4100 block of Oceanside Boulevard.
As the three friends were crossing the street, Gutierrez and one friend were struck by an unspecified vehicle traveling eastbound on Oceanside Boulevard. Another pedestrian was also injured in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and contacted emergency services.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the injured pedestrians. Gutierrez was transported to Tri-City Medical Center Emergency Department, where he was being prepared to be airlifted to another hospital for a higher level of care. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

The other two pedestrians, a 24-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, were transported to Palomar Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
