Antioch, CA (June 25, 2024) A tragedy occurred on Sunday night when a 71-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was crossing a street in East Bay.
Antioch police report that the crash occurred on Lone Tree Way near Black Diamond Drive at around 10:35 p.m. Further details about the incident remain unclear. Authorities are still investigating, and they encourage anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
What we know is that the 71-year-old, who was apparently from Antioch, was in the middle of the crosswalk when the vehicle hit him. We do not know what type of vehicle it was yet, but reports say that the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with responding officers.
Tragically, the man who was struck passed away from his injuries at the scene. His identity has not been released.
