(Phoenix, Arizona) A 15-year old girl is now dead after being rushed to the hospital when a vehicle struck her in an apartment complex driveway in North Phoenix, yesterday afternoon.

Phoenix police confirmed that she was walking across the driveway of the apartment when a vehicle entering the apartment’s parking lot struck her. She was rushed to the hospital where she later died. The accident occurred on 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road, just west of Thunderbird High School.

Police confirmed that the driver stayed on scene and was not impaired with alcohol.

Perspective of 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road:

Because the 15 year old died after a vehicle crossed a driveway, investigators may want to review code law 28-856. One of the following requirements that the driver may have violated is (2). This part of the section requires all drivers to yield the right of way to pedestrians as possible to avoid collision. The driver may also violate (3). This law states that before driving onto a sidewalk or sidewalk area that extends to an alleyway or private driveway, you must stop.

Investigators may want to also review the punishments in regards to causing death to an individual. They may review due to the punishment relating to the driver’s actions. 28-661 (F) (2), is about getting a violation of 10 years in jail for causing death. It also discusses that the department can also revoke your driver’s license or permit.

    Advice for the Family

You may also consider speaking with a qualified legal professional experienced in pedestrian accident cases. They can help explain your options and guide you through next steps.
