Los Angeles, CA (October 24, 2023) One person was killed and another injured on Tuesday morning when they were hit by a car in south Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department said they believe this wasn’t an accident, but was an intentional hit-and-run.

It happened in the area of Broadway and El Segundo Boulevard in Willowbrook around 9:15 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers received calls about a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the area. Upon arrival, officers found two pedestrians lying in the middle of the roadway. Paramedics at the scene took one of the pedestrians to a local hospital for treatment and said he was in cardiac arrest. The second pedestrian was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
Los Angles Police officers at the scene determined that the incident was a case of assault and not an accident. Evidence and witness encounters indicate that the person driving the vehicle intended to hit the two pedestrians. Officers said it was an assault with a deadly weapon and the car was the weapon.
