(San Diego, California) Wednesday, July 27th, a report was made of a vehicle crash at 300 block of Sea World Drive.
San Diego Police Department Officer J. Perales states that a Toyota Camry was making a U-turn against a red arrow. The motorcycle rider was on the westbound in the left lane, riding a 1994 Harley Davidson. The motorcycle rider hit the Toyota Camry vehicle that made a U turn, on its rear. The driver of motorcyclist is suffering a brain bleed on two areas of their brain. The rider was taken to a hospital is in life threatening conditions.
The investigation was ongoing.
300 Block of Sea World Drive Analysis
San Diego Police Department may have reviewed the Driving, Overtaking, and Passing law (21703) whether the motorcyclist violated the law or not. The law states “The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicle and the traffic upon, and the condition of, the roadway.” If the motorcycle followed the Toyota too closely without enough space, then the driver may have violated the law.
Based on code (22103) Speed laws, drivers making a U-turn can do so if approaching vehicles are within 200 ft. Unless the approaching vehicles are controlled by an official traffic control device. The motorcycle may not have kept 200 feet away from the Toyota. It may not have been under control by an official traffic control device resulting in the crash near Sea World
Speeding could also be a factor due to the motorcyclist hitting the rear of the Toyota. When you hear about a speeding vehicle hitting a a car due to high speed, it ends up hitting a part of a vehicle. If that was a factor in this crash, the motorcyclist violated the Speed Laws (22350). This law goes into depth similar to (21703) but regards in prohibiting high speed relating to weather, property, endangering others, surface and width and many close relation to what is stated.
