Van Nuys, CA (March 15, 2024) Sadness covered Van Nuys late Friday morning when a motorcycle collided with a Metro G Line bus Hazeltine Avenue. The collision claimed the life of the 34-year-old motorcycle driver, Richard Leos. A 12-year-old girl, who was a passenger, sustained serious injuries in the crash. The fatal accident occurred around 11:00 a.m. on March 15th, near Bessemer Street.
The Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the scene along with the Los Angeles Fire Department and found the motorcycle completely destroyed. Two people were on the ground, a man and a 12-year-old girl. Paramedics hurried to help the two injured people, but sadly, they discovered that Leos had been killed in the accident. With heavy hearts, emergency medical crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
The 12-year-old girl sustained serious injuries in the collision and was rushed to Valley Presbyterian Hospital to receive treatment. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the girl was riding on the back of the motorcycle at the time of this devastating collision.
Police officers are still investigating this accident to determine why the Metro G Line Bus and the motorcycle collided. Jose Ubaldo with Metro said, “Metro extends its deepest sympathies to family and friends of the deceased and to the person injured.” They are working with the LAPD as this fatal collision is investigated.
