Madera, CA (August 7, 2024) A motorcyclist tragically lost their life in a collision with a pickup truck on July 31st. The accident occurred on Road 26, not far from Mateo Way, right around 4:30 a.m., according to reports. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and survived for two days in the hospital before succumbing to those injuries.
This horrible accident started on southbound Road 26, early on the morning of July 31st. The sun had yet to rise, leaving the roadway in darkness as motorists traveled. A 2021 Ford F-250 pickup was traveling along the road with a Boadi motorcycle riding behind it. At approximately 4:30 a.m., the driver of the pickup slammed on the brakes, pulled to the right shoulder and then made a U-turn, right in front of the motorcycle. The rider of the Baodi tried to avoid a collision, by steering left, but didn’t have enough time. The front of the motorcycle crashed into the left side of the Ford pickup truck.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the Baodi and landed on the roadway, rolling before finally coming to a stop. The motorcycle was smashed and busted in the collision and laid on the road with a field of debris around it. The driver of the pickup stopped the vehicle and stepped out of the vehicle, unharmed. They waited for authorities to arrive at the scene.

Emergency crews hurried to the scene and found the victim on the ground. They rushed to the motorcyclist, ready to give them medical attention, and found with critical injuries. Paramedics at the scene rushed the rider to a nearby hospital for treatment. The staff did everything they could to save the victim. The motorcyclist survived for two days, until they finally succumbed to their injuries on August 2nd. With heavy hearts, authorities pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the hospital.
Officers spoke with the driver of the pickup truck and gathered evidence at the scene. They are working to understand what happened on that dark Madera road on that early summer morning. The motorcycle had to be towed from the scene and crews cleaned up the debris that was left behind from the accident. Officers have stated that this accident remains under investigation.
