Los Angeles, CA (July 12, 2024) Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were injured on Friday morning, July 12th, when their police cruiser was struck by another vehicle. The driver then tried to flee the scene, reports indicated. The collision took place near the intersection of East Adams Boulevard and South Central Avenue just before 2:00 a.m.
It was so early in the morning that most would consider it to be the middle of the night. Two police officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were on duty and inside their patrol car at approximately 1:45 a.m. on July 12th. Suddenly, their patrol car was hit by another vehicle, according to reports. The impact was strong, leaving both officers injured. The driver of the other vehicle continued driving, trying to flee the scene. They didn’t get too far before they crashed into another vehicle, officers reported. The second crash forced the fleeing vehicle to stop.

Other officers with the Los Angles Police Department quickly arrived at the scene. They found the police cruiser with damage and there was debris on the roadway. A little further down sat the hit-and-run driver’s vehicle, also damaged. It had struck another vehicle, leaving it with damage as well, reports indicated. Paramedics discovered that the two officers inside the police cruiser that had been hit, sustained injuries. They were both transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports.
The driver of the at fault vehicle got out of the car and fled on foot. Officers eventually caught the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, officers reported. They were arrested at the scene and not only face DUI charges, but also hit-and-run charges.
