Brentwood, CA (July 11, 2024) A wrong-way collision in the town of Brentwood left one person with serious injuries, according to police reports. It was approximately 2:30 a.m. when the two vehicles collided, head-on, on the Santa Monica (405) Freeway, not far from Getty Center.

Darkness filled the California sky as a few vehicles traveled along the Santa Monica (405) Freeway in Brentwood. It was 2:30 in the morning and most of the world was asleep. Suddenly, on the southbound side of the 405 Freeway, a pickup truck began traveling in the wrong direction. As the vehicle headed the wrong-way with headlights illuminating the dark roadway, it collided with another vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol was the first to respond to the call. Sirens filled the quiet, early morning air and lights flashed through the darkness as officers hurried to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the two vehicles, both badly damaged, sitting in the southbound lanes of the freeway. Officer Sean Lough with the CHP reported that one person was found trapped inside their vehicle. Officers requested help from the Los Angeles Fire Department, who arrived at the scene and extricated the trapped person, according to City News Service. Paramedics transported the victim, who had sustained significant injuries, to a local hospital for further treatment.

The investigation began with a SigAlert issued by the California Highway Patrol. Officers gathered evidence and are actively working to determine what caused this head-on collision on the 405 Freeway in Brentwood. Both vehicles involved in the crash were badly damaged and had to be removed from the scene. Crews worked to clear the freeway of glass and debris once officers finished their initial investigation of the scene.
