Fresno County, CA (August 24, 2023) A woman is dead after a semi-truck and passenger vehicle collided on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. They received a call around 9:20 p.m. of a collision with an injury on Manning Avenue, just east of Yuba Avenue in Fresno County.
Investigators said a 32-year-old man was driving a Freightliner southbound through a grapevine field/vineyard. At the same time, a 72-year-old man was driving a Honda CRV westbound on Manning Avenue. The Freighliner made a left turn out of the field onto Manning Avenue, right in the Honda’s path.

The Honda collided with the Freightliner’s rear trailer axle area. Both the driver of the Honda and his wife, in the front passenger seat, sustained serious injuries in the crash. The woman was life-flighted to a local hospital, according to California Highway Patrol Officers. She later died at the hospital from her injuries.
Alcohol and drugs do not seem to be a factor in this collision. The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
