Alturas, CA (November 6, 2023) A woman was fatally injured in a car accident on Friday, November 3rd, in Alturas, according to the Alturas California Highway Patrol. It occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Highway 299 along Cedar Pass.
Brian Boatman, a 44-year-old, was heading west on Highway 299 in a Chevrolet 6500 tow truck. Reports indicate that he drifted off the shoulder of the highway while rounding a curve and then over-corrected to get back on the roadway. Boatman then lost control of the tow truck and swerved into oncoming traffic.

At the same time, a 70-year-old woman, was driving east on Highway 299 in a GMC Sierra. Boatman’s tow truck collided with the GMC.
Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene to find the two vehicles blocking both lanes of the highway. Paramedics arrived to help and sadly, found that the woman driving the GMC had been killed in the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brian Boatman sustained moderate injuries in the collision, and was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment.
