(Las Vegas, Nevada) A two vehicle crash occurred after one vehicle was making a U-turn on Tuesday in Central Valley.

Las Vegas police confirmed that the collision occurred around 10:29 a.m. when a 2000 GMC Yukon driver was going westbound on Vermont Avenue which is the only westbound travel lane and hit a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban, facing southbound at a stop signal in Harvard Avenue. The Yukon driver was completing a U-turn and continued left at 360 degree before crashing into the Suburban.

The Suburban driver then hit a light pole due to the impact of the collision. The 61 year old Yukon was taken to the University Medical’s Trauma Center and was pronounced dead.

The Suburban driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. There was no sign of impairment in regards to the driver. A three year old juvenile kid was also in the vehicle but did not sustain any injuries.

    Analysis on Vermont Avenue

If the Suburban driver was making an illegal U-turn in a business district location then investigators may review NRS 484B.403 to be sure that the driver violated this law before making charges. Investigators may also want to review NRS 484B.657 (1) to determine the kind of charges the driver may receive. In this case, causing death is considered a misdemeanor and is guilty of vehicular manslaughter.

Some of the followings that this law discusses is punishments in regards to a driver involved in an accident that led to a death of a person may be charged with a category B felony and imprisoned for at least a year. You can also be imprisoned up to 10 years and a fine of 2,000 dollars to 5,000 dollars.

These specific laws may help investigators identify the punishments that the driver may face and what he or she particularly violated in the first place before investigators make decisions on what charges should be made.
