(Phoenix, Arizona) Phoenix fire officials received reports on a two vehicle crash involving two kids who are now hurt. The collision occurred on the intersection of Cave Creek and Beardsley roads at around 7:15 on Thursday, August 20th.
When firefighters arrived at the scene they found Sean McArthur, one of the drivers in the collision with extreme critical injuries and was taken to the hospital. Another woman was also critically injured and transported as well.
Two children were with minor injuries and sent to the hospital as well.
Phoenix police say that McArthur was ejected out of the vehicle and later died at the hospital. Police believe he was traveling on the wrong-side of the road when the accident occurred.
It has not been confirmed if impairment and speed were a factor.

Because McArthur was ejected out of his vehicle, speed may have played a factor due to the having less control in coming out of the vehicle and the vehicle having full control. Normally when someone speeds and then tries to stop, the vehicle is still on “speed mode” and may not stop quickly. It may aggressively stop enough to cause bodily injury or eject drivers and passengers out of the vehicle.
Investigators may review 28-701 to determine if the driver went against any of the following violations in regards to speed. One of them includes driving at a speed greater than reasonable on a highway and prudent under the circumstances, conditions, and potential hazards. This code also states one of the following: It is important to be in control of your speed to prevent hitting objects, persons and vehicles.
(1)The following violations that represent speeding unreasonably are on a school crossing going 15 miles per hour. (2) 25 miles per hour in a business or residential district. (3) 65 miles per hour in other locations.
