Citrus Heights, CA (April 28, 2024) A two-vehicle collision happened in Citrus Heights on Thursday, April 25th, leaving one person with critical injuries. The two vehicles crashed right around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of Oak Avenue and Old Ranch Road.

As vehicles headed through Citrus Heights, two vehicles collided for unknown reasons at Oak Avenue and Old Ranch Road. Following the collision, one of the vehicle’s veered off the road and slammed into a tree, officers said. The crash was reported just after 5:00 p.m.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was the first to arrive at the scene. A damaged vehicle sat in the road and another vehicle had hit a tree and sustained major damage. Paramedics quickly checked the vehicles to see if anyone had been injured. They found a person unconscious with critical injuries in the vehicle that had hit the tree. Reports from the scene indicated that the person was also trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire fighters with special tools.

The unconscious victim was quickly, but carefully loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Officers at the scene reported that the victim had significant injuries and were listed in critical condition. The other driver involved did not receive any significant injuries in the collision.

The Citrus Heights Police Department had to close a portion of Old Ranch Road in both east and west directions following the collision. Investigators worked to determine what caused this collision and who was at fault. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene and the debris and glass covering the ground had to be cleaned before the road could be re-opened. Officers do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in this accident.
