(Victorville, CA) Isabell DeLang, 16, and Maddalyn Dailey, 17, were killed in a three vehicle crash on Ridgecrest Road near Elmwood.
California Highway Patrol confirmed that two vehicles, a Dodge Charger and Chevy Camaro, were speeding on Ridgecrest Road near Elmwood. Once the Maddalyn vehicle travelled into the intersection, the crash occurred. California Highway Patrol also stated that the impact was so strong that the vehicle, Acura TL, split in half.
Maddalyn’s father told 4 Los Angeles that she was planning to drop off Isabell home to come home for dinner on time. Her father also heard the impact. “She left, I heard the garage door close and within a minute, I heard the impact and I automatically knew. It’s a death trap because there are no signals.”
Isabell’s Mother also told 4 Los Angeles that she just received her daughter’s senior portraits when she heard the tragic news.
She also stated her grief saying she hasn’t been able to work and go outside.
The Dodge driver stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities and was arrested. The Chevy however, fled the scene and has not been found.
Investigation is still taking place.
Perspective on The Ridge Road near Elmwood
Investigators may want to view the Speeding Laws (22350) to determine whether they violated this law. This is due to the fact that the California Highway Patrol confirmed that the Dodger Charger and Chevy Camaro were both speeding before causing the fatal death of two teenagers. This law makes it clear that driving at a high speed that is unreasonable is a violation. In this case they may have gone against these rules.
If that’s the case, investigators may review possible punishments they might face. If the driver was driving over 100mph, stated in California’s Speeding Laws and Ticket Penalties that they can receive a maximum fine for 500 dollars for the first offense. By the third offense in driving over 100 mph per hour in the past five years can get a base fine of 1,000 dollars and a one year suspension.
