(Sacramento, California) On Monday, August 10th, a Honda Sedan vehicle allegedly struck a subcontractor and barrier vehicle while construction was taking place on Highway 50. This allegedly was not the first time the driver hit a vehicle that day.
Ruby Lorenzo, the confirmed driver of the Honda Sedan vehicle, struck an Uber driver, Anthony Eatmon while driving his last passenger of the day.
He then chased Lorenzo for confrontation. He blocked the driver at the SMUD station off S street. Eatmon told the driver “Accountability I mean. You know this is a hit and run. You just hit me.”
Eatmon then called 911. Ten California Highway Patrol showed up. Forty-five minutes after discussing with investigators, Eatmon learned that Lorenzo had hit a man who was left for dead in Stockton Boulevard.
Before Lorenzo hit the Uber driver’s vehicle, Eatmon saw her getting closer while looking through his rearview mirror. He expected her to slow down, but what happened next was not what he had expected.
CHP Investigators confirmed that the subcontractor for Caltrans was struck by a vehicle in the closed construction. This resulted in him falling off Highway 50 overpass, landing in Stockton Boulevard.
The victim was identified by his family as Onias Rodriguez.
Eatmon expressed his sadness towards the Onias Rodriguez case on ABC10.
“When they first told me, I was like, what? I was shocked. And then it was just sadness. Because I am a father, a grandfather and I’m just saying…there’s a guy just going to work. And she hit two other people, so there were three people in that accident.
Analysis On Highway 50
The Speed Laws may be what investigators took a look at given the circumstances of the vehicle driving too close to the Uber driver’s vehicle. Under code (22350) of the law states that no person should drive a greater speed than reasonable or redundant on a highway due to regards in weather, visibility, the traffic on, the surface and width of the highway, and no events involve driving at a speed that harms others and property.
Another possible law investigators may have reviewed is the General Provision law code 664.
Why It Could Be Possible Ruby Lorenzo Attempted Murder
General Provision law code 664 may also relate to this case because it is based on attempting to kill an individual. Under the law, it states the following that any person attempting any crime but fails, prevented, intercepted in its preparation, should be punished where there is not even a provision that’s made by the law for the punishments of those attempts. One of the following punishments (b) “If the crime attempted is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail, the person guilty of the attempt shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail for a term not exceeding one-half the term of imprisonment prescribed upon a conviction of the offense attempted”.
This could be the possibility in regards to hitting the Uber driver. From then on, she proceeded to hit another vehicle. In this case, this may determine that she violated this law. It may also help determine for the investigators that she may not have done it unintentionally or intentionally.
