Hemet, CA (September 10, 2024) The community of Hemet was saddened as news spread of a fatal collision on Mountain Avenue. Sadly, 21-year-old Stephanie Morales was killed in the collision. It was 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night, September 8th, 2024, when the tragedy occurred. Two others sustained injuries in this head-on crash that took place west of Soboba Street.

A Kia Forte, driven by Morales, was heading west on Mountain Avenue in the dark on Sunday night. At the same time, a Hyundai Ioniq was traveling east on the same stretch of roadway. The Kia suddenly drifted into the eastbound lane and hit the Hyundai, head-on. Reports indicated that the man driving the Hyundai saw the Kia and tried to avoid the collision, however he did not have enough time to avoid the oncoming vehicle, officers reported.

First responders arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles with major damage in the middle of the roadway. Paramedics with the Hemet Fire Department found Morales, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, with life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to Hemet Global Medical Center by ambulance. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. Authorities sadly pronounced the 21-year-old dead.
