Greenfield, CA (November 8, 2023) Several injuries were reported on Tuesday evening following a wrong-way crash in Greenfield, according to authorities. The accident occurred on Highway 101 and left everyone involved seriously injured, some with life-threatening injuries.
The lead up to the horrible wrong-way accident started when a group of teenagers decided to steal a vehicle from the 1000 block of Oak Avenue, according to police officers. For a while, the teenagers in the stolen vehicle were able to go for a joyride without being found by officers, but later that same evening, they were spotted on the Peninsula. They were then spotted again in Salinas.

For reasons unknown, the teenager driving the vehicle decided to drive the wrong way down Highway 101. This led to a head-on collision. The crash injured every one of the occupants in the two vehicles, according to the Greenfield Police Department. Some of those injured sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported the occupants of both vehicles to local hospitals for treatment.
Police officers and medical personnel arrived at the scene to find two smashed cars and several injured occupants. One police officer said, “To our younger community members, remember: while California laws might seem lenient on delinquent behavior, the rules of physics do not discriminate by age.”
The juveniles who thought their plan would lead to an evening of fun, could be facing multiple charges following the theft of the vehicle and the collision on Highway 101.
