Otay Mesa, CA (October 23, 2024) A tragic rollover crash occurred on State Route 905 in Otay Mesa on Tuesday afternoon, October 22nd, 2024. It all happened around 2:20 p.m., and sadly, one person lost their life and another was seriously injured.
A 4-door Infiniti G35 was speeding along State Route 905, headed west, on Tuesday afternoon. A Caltrans truck was stopped on the side of the roadway and the Infiniti crashed into it around 2:20 p.m. The impact sent the Infiniti rolling and it finally came to a stop on its roof. The impact also completely totaled the Caltrans truck, according to reports.
Emergency personnel found one person who had been ejected from the Infiniti. Unfortunately, they had been killed in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was found in the vehicle with critical injuries, according to officers. Paramedics rushed them to Mercy Hospital, located in Hillcrest, to receive emergency medical care.

Officers had to close the westbound lanes of the highway, as well as all of the lanes on Britannia Boulevard, for hours as they investigated and cleaned the scene. Reports indicated that the Caltrans truck was so badly damaged that it had to be hauled away by a tow truck. The Infiniti was also hauled from the scene and crews worked to clean up all the glass and debris that littered the roadway. Reports indicated that the lanes weren’t reopened until just before 11:00 p.m.
