Orangevale, CA (June 20, 2024) A two-vehicle collision in Orangevale on Tuesday afternoon, June 18th, left an elderly passenger with serious injuries. The collision occurred in Sacramento County on Greenback Lane, just after 12:30 p.m. Officers with the CHP reported that the collision was head-on and blocked the intersection, causing traffic to back up.
A white GMC pickup truck and another vehicle were driving along Greenback Lane when they suddenly collided, head-on. Officers are still not certain what caused this head-on collision. The two vehicles sustained major damage in the collision and reports indicated that they blocked the intersection, causing traffic issues in the area.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles sitting in the intersection, surrounded by debris. Officers began directing traffic away from the scene as paramedics prepared to give medical aid to anyone in need. An elderly passenger in one of the vehicles was injured in the accident. Paramedics found the victim and transported them to a local hospital by an ambulance to receive treatment. It is unknown at this time if anyone else was injured in this Orangevale accident.
Officers gathered evidence and took statements from witnesses at the scene. They are determined to figure out what caused this head-on collision and who was at fault. Reports indicated that one of the vehicles was so damaged that it wasn’t able to be driven. A tow truck had to come to the scene and remove the vehicles following the investigation. Crews then cleaned up the glass and debris from the roadway before reopening the intersection to motorists.
